This coastal town is the ideal weekend retreat with a little bit of everything — from golf and hikes and dinner and dive bars.

EXPLORE

If you’re looking to explore the beauty of the California coast, go check out Point Lobos State Natural Reserve. There are tons of intermediate hikes and trails to explore, both along the water’s edge as well as through the groves of Cypress trees.

If golf is your game, I’d recommend Poppy Hills Golf Course. A beautiful public course that does a great job of intertwining the natural landscape of Monterey into a fun, but challenging golf course.

STAY

My pick for a visit is always Hotel Carmel. Nestled in the heart of Carmel-by-the-Sea, Hotel Carmel is the perfect stay along the coastline. Being located just steps away from shops, galleries, restaurants, and the beach, this hotel offers everything you could need for a weekend getaway.

EAT & DRINK

If you’re looking for a casual date night that will give you a classic feel for downtown Carmel, go check out Dametra Cafe! The food is Mediterranean, the space is filled with color and life, and the staff truly brings the entire experience together.

After dinner, go snag a nightcap at Sade’s if you’re looking for a local dive bar to finish your evening, or head a couple of houses down to Cottage of Sweets for dessert.
