As I began conceptualizing the designs for our Fall/Winter 2024 collection, I found myself back on the Cojo-Jalama Ranch, nestled along the rugged coast of Lompoc, CA. This place was more than just a setting—it was a canvas where my imagination ran wild, painting memories that have stayed with me ever since.
My brother Will and I were fortunate to spend much of our childhood exploring the remote beaches and golden hillsides of this historic ranch with family and friends. Days here were a blend of discovery and freedom. We played in the surf, watched the grace of cattle drives, marveled at rodeos, and felt the pulse of a branding ceremony. Wildlife sightings felt mythical, each glimpse adding to the magic of our surroundings. We learned of the rich history and spirit of the Chumash, who first called this land home, deepening our connection to place and its stories. Nights were spent around a barbecue, immersed in live music from legends like Steve and Beth Wood of Honk, and stargazing from our tents until we drifted into dreams of tomorrow’s adventures.
I remember my dad waking me one dark morning to the sight and thunderous sound of a rocket launch from nearby Vandenberg Air Force Base, breaking the dawn and burning the image into my mind forever.
This is the California I’ve always known and loved, and it’s the spirit I wanted to capture for this collection. When designing the graphics and products for this collection, we let ourselves play, leaning into the creativity and freedom we once felt as kids in this Western playground.
This serves as a study of sorts—of playful designs and found images that share just a glimpse of this rich story.
The rest is up to you and your imagination…
